ERRORS IN MEASUREMENT
Error:
The difference between expected value( true value) and measured value called as "Error".
It is indicated by letter 'e'.
therefore,
e = At - Am
where e = Error
At = True value of the quantity
Am = Measured value of the quantity
In this expression ' e ' is also called as "Absolute Error".
There is Relative Error, it can be expressed as
er = Absolute error / True value = (True value - Measured Value) / True value
= (At - Am) / At
The percentage relative error is expressed as,
%er = (At - Am) / At *100
Accuracy, it is defined as
A = 1 - er
A is also called "Relative accuracy"
Percentage accuracy, a = A * 100.
